Hi all. After an unhappy purchase (which lasted more than one year) of an achromatic refractor (returned to the seller of that time), at the age of 14 years I can have the first reflector newton that in those times was very popular: the Skymaster 114/900 newton, you can see it in the picture below on its tripod behind me taking the company to "dinosaur" from 350mm in diameter.
I live a visual life for years and years, carrying out the little newton up to the mountains and at friend's home. As improvements to the instrument I purchased of two eyepieces MA Meade (in fact a tool Meade has always been in my dreams): 40mm and 9mm. Continue as more visual sightings of celestial events of the 80s and 90s, although my eye was always turned to Jupiter and will follow it with the little instrument the color and structural changes over the years. I started to photograph (it could better to say "attempts to photograph" on film) the deep sky with the film camera piggy backed (all selfbuilded) on 114. I learned in the meantime techniques draft of the film B / N (the Kodak TP2415 and the HP500 by Ilford using chemicals products Ornano and Ilford) and developing everything by myself for years. Meanwhile I follow the vein science at the University at the Faculty of Biology, University of Naples Federico II (at home I had a good microscope because my father was passionate about this subject), with the intent to do basic research. At the end of four years I start the 11th year of PhD in Evolutionary Biology, and in the three years of doctorate I achieved results in fertilization and forwarded a proposed development of an acquisition with two cameras for a microscope in fluorescent light and in the department (it were the times of Intel 386 and then 486). After a short period to see if I had outlets, shipwrecks my dream to do basic research and then take other roads working more or less related on medical / biological. By 8-9 years, in which neglect, for reasons made working away from home, the passion riesploded instead about in 2004 with the purchase of a MeadeLX90-8". The choose of the SC is almost forced: the sky has changed over the years to the point that from my position reached a magnitude limit when I'm very lucky of +3.0. With the LX90 beginning to review the knowledge of astrophotography film, trying to fit the observations to the weather conditions, but soon working towards turning the camera, both with VestaPro bought used in germany that with the LPI Meade. Experience conducted for years with the 114/900 and dell'LX90 lead me to look more towards to the planetarium more than the deep sky objects, precisely because of the conditions of increasingly polluted skies and very few transparency. After some considerations on the average score in a few months of seeing, I thought about making the transition to a suitable instrument for global purposes but not leave me the opportunity to do anything else besides the high resolution planetary. I had thought about a Dall-Kirkham for the global ad hoc, but then I denied not for money but for the over-specialization of the instrument. I have therefore decided in February 2006 for the SC always Meade 14 "LX200 GPS and sell the LX90, buying some other webcams (philips spc900nc and DMK21AF04, and the ISD-c for deep sky). I undertake in the planetarium with the new standard looking-back for high resolution planetary following forums, distribution lists specific, both in Italy and abroad. In two months I can achieve a more than acceptable standard and thus enhance my knowledge by participating in projects like the Jupos (imaging and measurements on Jupiter) along with other observers which "headed" by Gianluigi Adamoli and then come contacted by John Rogers, who by the project at the international level through the list ALPO Japan. and the site of the BAA Jupiter. So, Jupiter was my first love and that remains for the time and that is why I studied in minute detail, trying to obtain optimum images for the years from 2006 to date on the great planet that we know is still very low on ' horizon and therefore not conducive to good images at least until 2010. The park tools has been enriched with an achromatic Celestron (NexStar GT102) for solar observations with Astrosolar filter in combination with a filter OIII narrowband or Continuum. Very soon add a Borg101ED and as the driving miniBorg60ED everything on Eq6pro, with whom I would do with the deep using Starlight SXV-H9, moving the setup in neighboring areas more fit for purpose. Finally, at least for now, with the "small" IntesMicro M603 (Macksutov with secondary collimator) 6 "for semi-planetary travel in the EQ6 but preferred to follow the planetary transits in the photometry or photometry in general: the focal were chosen precisely for these purposes. Finally, the park very generous filters has been enhanced with a Coronado SolarMax by 60mm, which is parked because of low solar activity, at least for now. Clear skies, Antonello
